It was pandemonium at the presser today as emotions ran high ahead of the MF & DAZN: X Series 002 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield this Saturday, October 15.
Internet superstar and YouTube icon KSI attended proceedings in a promoter’s capacity this time out, alongside Co-presidents Kalle Sauerland and Mams Taylor, as security took centre stage with Tom Zanetti vs. Jayden King threatening to begin there bout early.
In front of a packed-out venue, every fight on this stacked card began to heat up with insults, threats and challenges. Family members, haircuts and even the prediction of a split-decision win entered proceedings as Misfits Boxing prepared itself for another huge event for the crossover sport.
KSI said:
“I’m excited for Misfits 002. We’ve got a huge card, big fights, and got some regulars as well as new people coming back. I think it’s gonna be a great event.”
“I’m thinking Ryan Taylor vs Slim (is the potential standout fight). Between them I know there’s some previous beef beforehand. Slim has shown he is THAT guy, knocking out Temperrr. It’s gonna be a good fight.”
“It’s good to see Joel back, JMX, I know he’s gonna do bits. It’s good to see DTG as well, he looked very fast at the media workout. Halal Ham, you’re always doing what you do but it’ll be a good fight.”
“Obviously Jay Swingler the main guy, the main event. Obviously, he lost to Gib, but he’s coming back with vengeance. You (Jay Swingler) wanna show that you’re on the same level as these guys; as the Slims, as the Gibs, as Salt Papi etc. Cherdley’s, the man, with his double glasses.”
“I’m excited for this whole event, it’s gonna be great.”
Kalle Sauerland said:
“We come from this huge premiere in London at the O2 and we wanted to make a statement. It wasn’t a one-off event where we said Misfits is here today and gone tomorrow, let JJ do a couple of fights in one night, and make history. We’re about the series, and Mams (Taylor) has done a fantastic job on it, top to bottom.”
“Personally, I’m loving that we have our first female fight on which is fantastic. The card has so many storylines to it, and from here we go on a voyage from Sheffield, to Austin. Texas, November 17th next month, with a blockbuster fight between Vitor Belfort and Hasim Rahman Jr.”
“We’re just on the cusp of announcing a massive 004 show for January. Keep your eyes peeled, it’s going to be bigger than anything in this space before, and I mean ANYTHING.”
“Looking forward to Sheffield, but it’s just part of the ride. Boxing is a lovely place to be, but this space is so much fun.”
Mams Taylor said:
“I think that every card is important, every matchup is important, because this is the space where we want to cultivate storylines and characters.”
“You guys become more invested in these guys from the lesser-known figures to the most well-known figures. That way this thing keeps going, and you guys keep demanding it and we’ll keep supplying it for you. Every card is so important because it sets up the future, who’s gonna fight the best of the best or who’s gonna fight this guy or that guy.”
“So we just carry on cultivating these storylines and that’s the importance of the consistency and continuity of these things.”
