The two main event fighters had been relatively playful in the verbal exchanges leading up to this fight, but the recent virtual face-offs suggested playtime was over. As Cherdleys soaked up the sun over in the United States, Jay Swingler warned his opponent of his focus and intent leading up to this one.
“I’m so zoned in and focused right now, I’m coming to win,” said Swingler. “This guy isn’t surviving my shots. This isn’t going past round one, at a maximum it’ll be in the second round.”
“When you lose this fight, it’s okay. When you get knocked out, you’ll still have a career to fall back on.”
Cherdleys, known for his comedic skits and jokey approach, referenced Rocky IV as his inspiration but outlined his commitment to making this fight one he will win. Visualising every outcome for this bout, he remains confident that he is going to be taking this one and doing it in style.
“I’ve been meditating five or six hours every day and planning every move. It’s kinda like a chess game and every little move I’ll have something to come back with,” said Cherdleys. “I’m coming on to your turf, and I’m taking it very seriously. I’ve been training for 15 years, whether that be in the ring or constant battles in life.”
“I’m going to be the first undefeated boxer to block every shot in all four rounds. We’re gonna come in there guns blazing, and look hot whilst I do it.”
The last Misfits event saw an electric crowd at a sold out O2 in London, and now the stakes have been raised with title additions as beef needs to be settled and further crossover boxing stars are unearthed.
The co-main event is ready to erupt when rivals Slim and Ryan Taylor settle their unfinished business inside the ring when crossover boxing features its first title defence!
The MF and ICB Light-Heavyweight Championship belts are on the line, and if bragging rights were more than enough to make this a potential ‘Fight of the Night’ contender, then the addition of the titles will surely add even more fuel to the fire.
An exciting updated fight card will also feature the likes of Yorkshire’s own Tom Zanetti vs. Jayden King, JMX vs. Ginty, Astrid Wett vs. Keeley, Ashley Rak-Su vs. Anthony Taylor, and DTG vs. Halal Ham!
