Misfits heavyweight champion eyes summer fight with weight terms already on his mind
Chase DeMoor wants Tommy Fury next. The Misfits heavyweight belt holder is hunting a late-summer fight after Andrew Tate declined to use his rematch clause following their December contest in Dubai.
DeMoor won a decision over Tate and kept his belt. Now he is looking for a name with more rounds and more visibility.
“That’s the fight that I’ve been reaching for for a couple years,” DeMoor told Mirror Fighting. “Tommy has beat a CEO in KSI, I’ve beat a CEO in Andrew Tate and we both come from reality TV.”
The weight is already part of the negotiation. Fury has fought near the 200-pound mark. DeMoor expects the scale to be tight and the paperwork detailed.
“In my Misfits title defences I’ve had to make weight as a heavyweight. I’ve had to make weight with rehydration clauses in two of those, you know against Natan Marcon and against Andrew Tate, and I imagine Tommy would be no different, he’s probably going to want to fight around 200lb, he’s probably going to have a rehydration clause in there,” DeMoor said.
A rehydration clause changes camp. It changes how much size you can bring back on fight night, how you manage your conditioning late.
DeMoor fights behind forward pressure. He keeps keeps punching, and tries to bank rounds with volume. Fury works more off the jab, stands tall, and looks to set his feet before turning the right hand over. He prefers space and straight shots. DeMoor prefers contact.
“I’ll fight him in his backyard. I’ll go out there in the mud, just give me some gloves, I don’t care who’s out there and we can get it on,” DeMoor said. “At the end of the day when that bell goes off I’m going to be throwing these hands.”
There is no eliminator attached. No mandatory order in play. This is a commercial fight. Weight, venue, and broadcast backing will decide whether it lands.
DeMoor has put the offer on the table. Now it is Fury’s move.
