Five-round Misfits defeat remains as Tate shifts focus to next boxing opponent
Andrew Tate will not activate his rematch clause against Chase DeMoor following December’s five-round points loss in Dubai. The second fight is off as he looks elsewhere for his return.
The original report was carried by Mirror Fighting, which stated Tate had until Friday to trigger the contractual option for a return bout. That deadline has now passed without activation.
The first fight went the distance under Misfits rules. Five rounds. Bigger gloves. Short format. Tate, 40 years old and ten years removed from competition, was making his boxing debut after a kickboxing career that included a world title. He tried to step in behind single shots early, but DeMoor’s size and straight punches forced him to give ground and reset before he could let combinations go.
After the loss, Tate said: “Obviously I didn’t get the result I wanted, the result I wanted was to see if I could still do it. At 40 years old, 10 years retired, it was always going to be a big ask. Chase fought well, it’s better to have tried and lost than not try at all. I won’t sit here and make excuses, I gave it my absolute all and I have nothing but respect for Chase. He deserves this victory.”
From a technical view, Tate showed willingness and toughness, but his timing inside a boxing ring lagged behind his instincts. Five rounds move quickly when a fighter is still trying to settle his feet and establish the jab as a base.
DeMoor has since stayed active, stopping Fernando Miguel Tamayo Alvarez in the fourth round last month. He has discussed a title defense and held talks with former UFC fighter Darren Till, though no agreement followed their public exchange.
There has also been online talk of a potential bout involving Tate and social media figure Sneako, after messages attributed to Misfits Boxing chief Mams Taylor were circulated regarding a fight in the United States or the UAE with significant purse figures attached.
A spokesperson for Tate said: “There are other conversations taking place behind the scenes, and when Andrew steps back into the ring, it will be against a name that is going to make a lot of heads turn.”
Tate has chosen not to revisit DeMoor. If he returns, he will need sharper ring craft, steadier balance under fire, and a jab he can build full rounds around.
